COVID-19 Vaccine Update December 10, 2020
This week we received additional information on the Pharmacy Partnership for Long- Term Care Program — a national vaccine distribution program for long term care residents. The purpose of this program is to manufacture and deliver the vaccine to healthcare workers and those residing in long term care centers safely and efficiently.
Though rapidly changing , it is our goal to provide you updated, and transparent information on our nations quest to protect the vulnerable population we serve from the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19.
Last week, the ACIP announced it’s approval and recommendation of Walgreens Pharmacy to lead the distribution of a vaccine for members of long term care communities; including health care personnel and residents.
When a COVID-19 vaccine is authorized by FDA and recommended by ACIP, vaccination in the initial phase of the COVID-19 vaccination program (Phase 1a) will be offered in the form of three (3) organized clinics within our centers.
In the coming weeks, we will partner with a team from Walgreens Pharmacy to ensure our center is well prepared for the series clinics as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For more information on the clinics and planning process, click HERE. Additionally, we expect to receive guidance with informed consents, scheduling of the series clinics, and more.
We urge our external communities to seek information to make informed decisions to protect the health of you and your loved ones. As we learn more and prepare our centers we will continue taking precautions to protect all residents and staff, and are committed to keeping you well informed about the care of your loved ones.
